It’s a “whole new year” for Central Florida students—and with a little help from Disney Cast Members, their school year will be shining, shimmering and splendid!
Over the past month, Walt Disney World Resort collected more than $200,000 worth of school supplies to benefit students in five Central Florida school districts, ensuring that students begin the school year with the tools they need for academic success.
Disney VoluntEARS spent weeks making wishes come true for local teachers and students, coming together to donate school supplies in support of the supply drive, including VoluntEARing at A Gift For Teaching’s First Teacher Shopping Day. Over 1,800 VoluntEAR hours were donated by Disney Cast Members, in addition to the more than $200,000 worth of supplies, including notebooks, pens, markers and many other necessary classroom items that will benefit children of Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Polk and Lake counties.
“Teachers come to us with their school supply wish lists, filled with items no student should have to go without,” said Marisa Worley, director of development for A Gift For Teaching. “Without the support of Disney VoluntEARS, we couldn’t do what we do. Year after year, they help make the wishes of local teachers and the dreams of Central Florida students come true.”
