Disney, Fox Corp, and Warner Bros. Discovery’s cutting-edge collaboration is making waves already! The trio has appointed Tony Billetter as the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Planning for their groundbreaking joint venture, Venu Sports. This powerhouse combination is set to bring you a state-of-the-art streaming service come fall 2024.
Tony Billetter, a notable figure in the industry, previously oversaw worldwide business strategy and planning for video and sports at Apple. But his Disney roots run deep—he spent more than a decade fine-tuning strategy at Walt Disney Studios before his Apple tenure. It’s a bit of a homecoming for Billetter, who now joins forces with another Disney and Apple alum, Pete Distad, the CEO of Venu. Distad, with his rich history steering Apple TV+ and Hulu’s marketing, promises innovative leadership (Variety).
And there’s more! Jessica Casano-Antonellis, who shined at SiriusXM and Disney’s streaming group, now holds the reins as SVP of Communications, ensuring Venu’s exciting journey is known far and wide. Disney, Fox, and WBD unveiled the Venu Sports name last week, setting the stage for an electrifying launch that bundles ESPN+ alongside their major sports networks – think ABC, ESPN, Fox, and more. Though final clearance is still needed, this dynamic team is poised to redefine sports streaming (SVG Staff).
The anticipation is palpable. Can’t wait till the official debut? Neither can we! Share your excitement in the comments. What’s your prediction for this new venture? Let’s get the conversation started! Don’t forget to share this story with fellow Disney and sports enthusiasts.
