At Disneyland, there’s magic around every corner, but sometimes surprises pop up that no one could foresee. Over Labor Day, Disneyland visitor Jeremy Sonkin captured a moment that left fellow park-goers stunned—a guest on the classic Pirates of the Caribbean ride appeared to stick their head and arm directly into the water twice.

Sonkin, who was live streaming when the event unfolded, told KTLA, “[t]he ride was experiencing a short delay/downtime, and I was live streaming at the time, looking down the lift hill that brings you back to the station. I saw the arm go first, followed by the rest of the person shortly after.” The TikTok video of the event quickly racked up nearly 250,000 views.

While magical memories are what most Disneyland visitors take home, this isn’t the first time unusual behavior at the park has made headlines. Both Disneyland and Disney World have taken steps to promote courteous behavior. Following several incidents in 2022, including fights, both parks added “Courtesy” sections to their websites, asking guests to “treat others with respect, kindness and compassion.”

In light of these incidents, Disney emphasizes that guests who cannot adhere to these standards may be asked to leave. Other theme parks, such as Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain, have also introduced stricter policies in recent years to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
