Can you believe it? It’s been 30 years since “The Lion King” first roared its way into our hearts! In honor of this beloved film’s milestone, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is rolling out some incredible food offerings that will have you feeling the love for this timeless classic. From nostalgic sips to indulgent sweets, get ready to embark on a taste adventure like no other from June 10 to September 9, 2024.
Our first stop is Discovery Island, where two must-try items await. Eight Spoon Café is introducing “The Simba,” a mango-flavored slushy topped with two gummy candies—perfect for cooling down on a hot day. Over at Isle of Java, you can indulge in “Timon’s Luau,” a layered dessert featuring vanilla chiffon, passion fruit curd, guava jam, and vanilla chantilly cream, all adorned with an edible tropical flower.
Next, make your way to Tiffins Restaurant for more culinary delights. “Rafiki’s Squash Banana” shake is an exotic blend of squash bananas, baobab fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, and cardamom. If you still have room for dessert, the visually stunning “Remember Who You Are” The Lion King 30th Anniversary Dessert awaits you. This dessert combines Kenyan coffee mousse, caramelized bananas, chai chantilly, and a chocolate-coffee crumble.
As you wander into Africa, don’t miss the “Zazu Ice Cream Sandwich” at Tamu Tamu Refreshments. This cool treat features vanilla ice cream sandwiched between blue cake-coated sugar cookies. For cheesecake lovers, Harambe Market offers the “You Follow Old Rafiki Cheesecake,” layered with passion fruit-mango and a coconut-lime crust. Both are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Over in DinoLand U.S.A., the fun continues with the “Shenzi Strawberry Lemonade” at Restaurantosaurus, a zesty blend of lemonade, strawberry smoothie, and blue curaçao syrup. Dig into the “Rightful Ruler Cupcake,” inspired by Scar, featuring red velvet cake and cookies ‘n cream cheesecake filling. And for DOLE Whip enthusiasts, head over to Trilo-Bites for a special float that combines DOLE Whip Lime, Sprite, and coconut.
