Caleb Graves, a beloved Disney travel TikToker, tragically passed away this past Sunday at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The seasoned marathon runner was participating in the Halloween Half Marathon when he collapsed at the finish line, amidst triple-digit temperatures. A well-known figure in the Disney community, Graves’ last video post expressed his concerns about the heat on the morning of the race, given his previous bouts with heat exhaustion.
The race, which started at the early hour of 5 AM, turned deadly for Graves as he completed the exhausting run around 7 AM. Witnesses reported seeing him clutch his chest as he neared the finish line. Though a volunteer quickly came to his aid and lifesaving procedures were performed for approximately an hour, Graves was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The cause of death was determined to be cardiac arrest, although the underlying reason remains unclear, as Graves had no known health issues prior to the race.
In the video posted just a day prior to the race, Graves candidly shared with his 18,000 followers his susceptibility to heat and recounted a recent incident of heat exhaustion. “I really hope I get through the race tomorrow morning,” he stated with noticeable apprehension. Despite his vast experience with distance running, including previous marathons and half-marathons at Disney World, the extreme temperatures proved overwhelming.
The Disney community has been rocked by the news of Graves’ passing. Fans and fellow runners are mourning the loss of someone who brought so much joy and inspiration through his Disney park adventures and race achievements. His legacy will remain in the countless lives he touched with his enthusiasm and love for all things Disney.
