On my recent trips to the Disneyland Resort, I chose to stay at Good Neighbor Hotels that were a bit too far for my liking when it came to walking distances. While some folks enjoy the morning stroll or the trek after a long day, that wasn’t my cup of tea. With my car parked at the hotel, the idea of paying $35 daily for Disney parking was not appealing. Ride-sharing services? Great for groups, not cost-effective for solo travel. So, I turned to the Anaheim Regional Transportation (ART) system, and it proved to be an interesting solution.

ART is a dynamic bus system that covers various routes around the Disneyland Resort, linking visitors to John Wayne Airport and an array of dining options beyond the resort. With 10 routes currently in service, ART offers quick connectivity to the parks. Single rides can be bought on the bus for $4.00 (adults) and $1.50 (ages 3-9), but you’ll snag better deals through their A-Way WeGo app. Day passes range from $6.00 for adults and $2.50 for kids to more extended options like a 5-Day pass for $25.00 for adults and $5.50 for kids.

The A-Way WeGo app, which ART now uses, was a bit clunky compared to its predecessors. Setting up an account was more confusing than it should have been. My tip: set up your account as soon as you download it to avoid unnecessary headaches. The app includes all route and ticket information you’ll need, even if navigating it can be a tad annoying.

ART runs its routes on roughly 20-minute loops, but delays can happen, partly due to a driver shortage that sometimes combines routes during slower hours, leading to longer waits. Despite these delays, the buses drop guests off conveniently close to the Harbor Boulevard entrance—right by the bus area designated for hotel shuttles.

For solo travelers or small groups, ART offers a budget-friendly and surprisingly enjoyable way to get to the parks. However, larger groups might do better with a ride-share or parking directly at Disneyland Resort. I love finding a good deal and actually enjoy using public transportation, so despite its quirks, I’ll definitely ride ART again.

I’d love to hear your thoughts! Have you tried the ART system or found another nifty way to get around? Share your experiences in the comments below.
