The Haunted Mansion Holiday at Disneyland is in the spotlight once again, but this time, it’s not just because of its ghoulish delights. Recently, fans have noticed that the attraction’s playful Easter eggs featuring Krusty the Clown from “The Simpsons” and Jangles from “Inside Out” have mysteriously disappeared. These characters once adorned the boxes of two jack-in-the-box figures, a delightful nod for sharp-eyed visitors.
The reason behind the removal seems to be tied to licensing agreements. Following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, “The Simpsons” became part of the Disney family. However, due to an existing agreement with Universal, where “The Simpsons Ride” and Springfield land reside, Disney might have felt the need to cover Krusty’s cameo. To maintain visual symmetry, the “Inside Out” clown also got wrapped up in the new Halloween-themed gift paper that now matches the rest of the display.
For those who never got to see these Easter eggs in person, don’t worry! You can still catch them in Disney Hype Beast’s Instagram video, where the transformation process is showcased.
Haunted Mansion Holiday reopened on July 29, equipped with a virtual queue system due to ongoing construction around the attraction’s area. As usual, the seasonal “The Nightmare Before Christmas” overlay continues to enchant guests, featuring a freshly designed gingerbread house to add to the holiday cheer.
