Disneyland and Disney World fans have a lot to be excited about! Both resorts are poised for substantial updates, including thrilling new rides and captivating experiences, all premiering in 2025 and beyond. As Disneyland gears up for its 70th milestone with festivities starting mid-May, here’s a glimpse of what’s in store.
Magic Kingdom’s beloved Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will close in August for a transformative overhaul. The updated attraction will feature new ride vehicles equipped with video monitors and dazzling handheld blasters with distinctive dual-colored lasers. A special appearance by the charming robot Buddy will also debut in a new opening scene. Guests can look forward to the revamped ride reopening in 2026.
Disneyland’s 70th birthday kicks off on May 16 with a theme of “Celebrate happy,” and highlights include a spectacular Mickey and Friends cavalcade and a dazzling World of Color Happiness show hosted by Joy from Inside Out. Additionally, projections at “It’s a Small World” and Carthay Circle will mesmerize guests, while the esplanade welcomes a stunning 50-foot replica of Sleeping Beauty Castle. The celebration culminates with the debut of the first-ever Walt Disney audio-animatronic on July 17.
Prepare for superheroic adventures in California Adventure’s Avengers Campus with two new rides: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. Guests will join forces with iconic heroes against King Thanos and test innovative tech with Iron Man in these thrilling additions starting construction this year.
Lastly, Magic Kingdom will introduce Pixar Cars Rally Race, transforming Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island into a high-octane raceway set in the rugged terrains of Route 66. Look out for distinctive rally cars, each boasting its own personality, as you race Lightning McQueen and friends starting this year.
