Get ready, Disney enthusiasts! We’ve got the latest scoop on the highly anticipated transformation of Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure 2.0.

It’s been over a year since Splash Mountain bid adieu at both Magic Kingdom Park and Disneyland Park. The closure of this beloved log flume ride, inspired by the controversial “Song of the South,” left fans with mixed emotions. Disney’s decision to retire the ride was part of a broader effort to step away from the outdated and racially insensitive themes of the 1946 film.

Instead, Disney has reimagined the attraction to spotlight “The Princess and the Frog,” celebrating our favorite New Orleans princess, Tiana. This new theme infuses the ride with the vibrant atmosphere of 1920s New Orleans, starring beloved characters like Mama Odie, Louie, Prince Naveen, and Tiana herself.

The revamped Tiana’s Bayou Adventure made its debut at Walt Disney World Resort in June. While garnering praise for its visual appeal, the ride received criticism for its narrative, where Tiana hosts a celebration but finds herself without a band. Critics argue that the storyline is confusing and lacks the toe-tapping tunes fans were hoping for.

Operational issues have also plagued this new attraction. Technical hiccups during Passholder and cast member previews led to frequent closures and even ride evacuations. However, Disneyland’s version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is still in testing, with no official opening date announced. This gives Imagineers more time to address any potential issues that arose with the Magic Kingdom version.
