The Disney magic is expanding in a big way! With domestic park attendance in a bit of a slump, the House of Mouse has announced some thrilling new developments that will have Disney fans eagerly planning their next visit. At the recent D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Disney laid out an ambitious vision for the future, set against the backdrop of a $60 billion investment in parks and cruises over the next decade.
Walt Disney World in Florida is set for its biggest expansion yet, with new lands dedicated to villains and Pixar’s “Cars” movie planned for Magic Kingdom. Fans can also look forward to the highly anticipated “Monstropolis” land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, featuring the franchise’s first suspended coaster through the Monsters Inc. factory. Meanwhile, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will delight guests with an “Encanto” ride and an Indiana Jones adventure in the new Tropical Americas area.
Over at Disneyland Resort in California, 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of the park. To celebrate, an animatronic Walt Disney will debut, sharing his stories in a technologically advanced show. Disneyland’s Avengers Campus will also expand significantly, with two new major attractions including battles in Wakanda and test flights as Iron Man. Disney California Adventure will see new rides based on Pixar’s “Coco” and an all-new “Avatar” land.
Disney Cruise Line isn’t being left out either. With an impressive fleet expansion, four new ships by 2031 have been announced, including the Disney Destiny, which will feature a Hercules stage musical.
Internationally, the magic spreads to Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Paris, with new Marvel and “Lion King” attractions on the horizon. These enhancements aim to reinvigorate attendance and offer guests new, unforgettable experiences.
