Over Labor Day weekend, an unscheduled “splashdown” took place on Disneyland’s iconic Pirates of the Caribbean ride, leaving many both amused and concerned.
According to a TikTok video by Jeremy Sonkin, a Disneyland visitor captured a jaw-dropping moment when an unidentified guest dipped their head and arm into the attraction’s water not once, but twice. The spontaneous act occurred amid a brief ride delay, adding an unexpected spectacle to the experience. “The ride was experiencing a short delay/downtime, and I was live streaming at the time, looking down the lift hill that brings you back to the station,” Sonkin explained in an email statement.
@jerendelle on TikTok shared the video with a caption urging visitors against such antics: “Somethings you are NOT prepared to see at Disney. This is NOT DEMURE behavior! Do NOT do this! Ask Cast Members for help! Stay safe and be magical!” The video has since amassed nearly 250,000 views, underlining the viral nature of such unusual behavior.
The Disneyland Resort has always prided itself on creating a safe and enjoyable environment for its guests. In recent years, the park has even added “Courtesy” sections to their websites, emphasizing the importance of respect and good behavior within the parks. These additions come in response to various disruptive incidents, including physical altercations that tarnish the ‘Happiest Place on Earth.’
Other theme parks in California have followed suit. Knott’s Berry Farm reintroduced its chaperone policy in 2023 after a series of summertime disputes, and Six Flags Magic Mountain is set to implement similar measures for its Fright Fest Extreme event. The aim is to maintain the fun, safe, and respectful environments that visitors expect.
