The beloved Jungle Cruise attraction at Disneyland has reopened following a significant $600,000 refurbishment. The much-anticipated revitalization, which began in August and saw the ride closed from September 16 through October 3, has now introduced a robust steel framework at the iconic tiger ruins scene, covered by a green scrim.

While the ride retains much of its classic charm, subtle enhancements are underway, particularly in the tiger exhibit. Disneyland filed permits worth $600,000 to replace the animatronic tiger scene within the crumbling ruins. According to The Orange County Register, the upgrade encompasses new electrical systems, footings, a durable steel frame, and detailed cement plaster rockwork.

During our recent visit, we noticed that while the ride is operational, the steel framework and scrim remain, signaling that further enhancements are ongoing. The iconic tiger animatronic continues to delight guests, though still nestled within the construction confines. Interestingly, the piranha effect has yet to be restored as of October 6, 2024.

For Disney enthusiasts, it’s a promising glimpse into the future of the Jungle Cruise, blending nostalgia with new structural integrity. Take a look at the reopened attraction, and marvel at the meticulous efforts to preserve and enhance this timeless adventure.
