Excitement and anticipation fill the air at Disneyland Resort as we head into the holiday season. However, frequent visitors to the “Happiest Place on Earth” might notice a significant change: the beloved nighttime spectacular “Fantasmic!” will be reducing its performances to weekends only. This adjustment unfolds in light of recent developments, including the unionization of performers.
The world-renowned show made its triumphant return to Disneyland last May after grappling with several challenges. The infamous fire that ruined the Maleficent dragon animatronic had fans reeling in April 2023, and subsequent issues like rogue fireworks and Mickey’s finger fireworks misfiring only added to the tension. On July 27th, the spectacle was even forced to proceed with limited pyrotechnics due to safety concerns.
For dedicated fans, it’s essential to note that the current schedule is available on the Disneyland Resort website. Previously, this extravaganza lit up the night approximately 365 days a year. Yet, post-pandemic reductions led to weekend-only performances during the off-season and daily shows in peak times, such as holidays and spring breaks.
As we approach the resort’s busiest season, Disneyland is sticking with the weekend-only format from Friday to Sunday. However, during Thanksgiving week, from November 24-30, 2024, “Fantasmic!” will grace audiences every night, showcasing two performances at 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Whether this reduction aligns with the recent union efforts among parade and character performers remains a point of curiosity.
So, will you venture into Disneyland on weekend nights to witness this spectacular show? Share your thoughts in the comments below or on our social media channels. The magic of “Fantasmic!” awaits for those who dare to be there!
