Attention Disney fans! Disneyland Resort is on track to update the Never Land Tribe scene in their beloved Peter Pan’s Flight attraction, following a similar transformation at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. This exciting news comes from The Orange County Register (OCR), who revealed that Walt Disney Imagineering will carry out these cultural sensitivity updates aiming to present Tiger Lily “with dignity and cultural authenticity.”
Currently, Disneyland has not scheduled a specific refurbishment period for Peter Pan’s Flight, at least up until September 30, according to the park’s operating calendar. However, Disneyland officials have confirmed to OCR that although the exact timing remains undecided, the scene will undergo changes similar to those already implemented in Orlando.
The updated Magic Kingdom version, which re-opened after a brief closure, now features Tiger Lily and her great-grandmother rotating gracefully on a turntable, set in front of newly designed tipis. The scene also includes tribe members engaging in a drum circle, promoting a more respectful depiction of the Never Land Tribe. Additionally, artwork throughout the queue and loading area has been revised to align with the new scene’s tone.
These updates come as part of Disney’s broader initiative to ensure their attractions reflect sensitivity and respect towards all cultures. Walt Disney World’s Peter Pan’s Flight had a swift turnaround, completing its updates in around a month and a half, so fans can expect a similar timeline for Disneyland once the project begins.
