In a magical transformation worthy of fairy tales, Disney World introduces “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” breathing new life into the beloved Splash Mountain ride. The grand opening is set for June 28 in Orlando, Florida, inviting guests to embark on a vibrant journey inspired by Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog.”
Fans of the original Splash Mountain, which first thrilled park-goers at Disneyland in 1989 and later at Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland in 1992, will find the ride’s familiar log flume structure intact. However, the experience has been completely reimagined with a lush, New Orleans theme reflective of Tiana’s spirited world. This transformation also distances the attraction from “Song of the South,” a 1946 film criticized for its problematic portrayals of African Americans and the antebellum South.
Early previews of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure are being offered to park employees and annual passholders, setting the stage for what promises to be a delightful and inclusive adventure for all guests. While Disneyland in California is also preparing to unveil its version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, fans will have to stay tuned for the exact opening date. Notably, the Splash Mountain at Tokyo Disneyland will retain its original theme.
As we eagerly await the public debut of this enchanting ride, we invite you to share your excitement and thoughts in the comments. How do you feel about the change from Splash Mountain to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? What are you most looking forward to? Let’s get the conversation started!
