This weekend, Disney fans were thrilled as the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, rolled out a treasure trove of announcements that promise to make both Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California even more magical. With a slew of new rides, lands, shows, parades, and lounges, Disney is turning these dreams into reality over the next five years. “Everything we’re going to share with you is in active development,” said Josh D’Amaro, Disney Experiences chairman. “Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving. We are doing everything you’ve heard here tonight.”

The Magic Kingdom at Disney World is set to receive a “Villains Land” packed with two major attractions, dining, and shopping. Frontierland is also getting a major revamp with a Cars-themed “thrilling rally race through the mountains” and a family-friendly racing experience. Epcot isn’t left out either, with a new lounge and a re-imagined version of Test Track. Animal Kingdom will host new attractions inspired by “Indiana Jones” and “Encanto,” making it a must-visit for fans of both franchises.

Disneyland in California will see the unveiling of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, replacing Splash Mountain in November. Adventure-hungry guests can also anticipate the first-ever “Coco” ride in California Adventure, an Avengers Campus expansion with two new attractions, and an “Avatar” experience that promises to transport guests to the breathtaking seas of Pandora.

Despite a recent report indicating a bit of a slump in Disney’s theme park performance, with a slight decrease in operating income, these new developments are aimed at reinvigorating visitor enthusiasm and ensuring Disney remains the pinnacle of theme park excitement.
