Meet Hank Ameen, a true Disneyland legend! At 92 years old, Ameen holds the record as the longest-standing employee at The Walt Disney Company, boasting an extraordinary 62-year tenure. His journey with Disney began in 1955 when he and his wife celebrated their honeymoon at Disneyland, igniting a lifelong passion for the magical kingdom.

Following his service in the Air Force, Ameen landed his first role at Disneyland as a Jungle Cruise skipper due to his previous experience as a bartender. However, his aspirations soon led him to join the Garden Grove Fire Department, where he enjoyed a fulfilling 35-year career. Despite his new path, Ameen couldn’t stay away from the allure of Disneyland. On his off days, he worked as a safety officer for the park’s spectacular firework shows, ensuring the well-being of both cast members and guests.

Ameen’s dedication to Disneyland has earned him countless cherished memories, including an unforgettable lunch with Walt Disney himself. “He started walking towards my table, but I never thought that he would sit with me,” Ameen fondly recalls. “He pulled up a chair and he asked me questions like, ‘How do you like working here? How do you like the food? What can I do?’ It was maybe a 10-minute conversation. That was a wonderful memory.”

Even today, decades later, Ameen continues to protect and watch over the Disney family he has come to cherish. His story is a testament to the enduring magic of Disney and the profound impact it has had on his life.
