Disneyland Paris is dazzling its visitors with a brand-new show, “Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland.” This spectacular musical extravaganza reimagines the beloved tale from the classic 1951 Disney film, “Alice in Wonderland.” Launched on May 25 and running until September 29, 2024, at the newly unveiled “Theater of the Stars” in Walt Disney Studios Park, this show promises a unique urban twist on Wonderland’s enchanting world.

We had the pleasure of catching up with Matteo Borghi, the mastermind behind this electric production. Matteo shared, “I wanted to offer our guests a completely fresh experience, something unexpected and surprising while paying homage to Disney’s timeless classic.” Emphasizing familiar beloved characters like Alice, the Queen of Hearts, and the Mad Hatter, he envisioned a show that builds on these iconic personalities with a modern flair.

The setting for this show is nothing short of exceptional. The theater’s stage, 68 meters long and 26 meters deep, provides a grandiose backdrop for Matteo’s vibrant imagination. From the labyrinthine sets to the whimsical creatures of Tulgey Wood, every element has been painstakingly designed to create an immersive 2024 Wonderland experience. This reimagining isn’t just a feast for the eyes but also a tribute to the original film’s artistry, blending nostalgic charm with contemporary aesthetics.

The storyline picks up from where the classic film left off. The Mad Hatter hosts a new tea party, inviting the audience alongside Alice and the ever-vexed Queen of Hearts. The Queen believes she should be the guest of honor, leading to another playful confrontation. This time, however, the audience gets to influence the outcome, making the show interactive and engaging.

The music is another stellar aspect of this production. Matteo highlights, “We infused the show with modern, uplifting pop tunes for Alice and the Mad Hatter, while the Queen of Hearts gets an edgier, classic rock soundtrack.” The show boasts live performances by six singers, including Alice, the Queen, and the Mad Hatter, accompanied by a live band, adding a dynamic layer to the already vibrant performance.

Combining live music with acrobatics, including trampoline acts and BMX performances, “Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland” aims to astonish guests at every turn. As Matteo aptly puts it, “Walt Disney Studios Park is the perfect place for such immersive, innovative experiences. We’re here to transport and surprise our guests, keeping the magic alive in unexpected ways.”
