As the future of Disneyland Resort dining takes an innovative leap, Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta at Disney California Adventure is now testing AI self-checkout technology. Visitors will find the AI self-checkout stations conveniently positioned near the north exit, aiming to streamline guest experiences with advanced tech.

Previously trialed at the End Zone Food Court of Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort in Walt Disney World, this AI technology was removed after a short-lived test period of one month. The AI system had mixed results initially, leading Disney to reintroduce the concept at California Adventure, hoping for improvements.

Upon placing food and beverage items on the specialized tray, the AI scanner attempts to automatically identify them. Guests are advised to separate items on the tray to ensure accurate scanning, as the technology may misidentify closely packed or modified items. While the idea is to simplify the checkout process, initial observations suggest that the system still requires a bit of vigilance and occasional assistance from Cast Members.

Once items are scanned, the system prompts guests to confirm the items identified. Payments are streamlined through MagicBands, credit cards, and mobile payment options, although cash transactions remain unsupported at these AI kiosks.

Drops of classic nostalgia mix with futuristic vibes as these AI checkout kiosks get settled into the inviting interiors of venues like Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta. Exclusive screens and terminals make the process user-friendly and accessible to guests from around the globe.
