Great news for Disney fans! The beloved “Paint the Night” parade is making a triumphant return to Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, after a six-year hiatus. Known as the technological cousin of the nostalgic “Main Street Electrical Parade,” “Paint the Night” is set to dazzle guests with its radiant, colorfully illuminated floats once more.

On October 11, 2024, Disney Parks ignited excitement with a brief 10-second teaser on TikTok, featuring close-ups of the “Cars” float and the opening beats of the parade’s catchy soundtrack. Simultaneously, Disneyland Resort’s official Instagram account echoed this reveal, hinting strongly that the parade would indeed reappear at its Californian home base. Disney cleverly captioned the video with the line, “When can we do this again?”—a nod to the theme song from “Wreck-It Ralph” that perfectly encapsulates the parade’s enchanting appeal.

“Paint the Night” originally premiered at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2014, where it made history as Disney’s first fully LED nighttime parade. It then journeyed to Disneyland Resort in 2015 to celebrate its 60th anniversary, captivating audiences with its dynamic procession of beloved characters from “Toy Story,” Disney Princesses, and more, all shimmering in vibrant lights. The parade’s last performance was at Disney California Adventure in 2018, and fans have been eagerly awaiting its return ever since.

Adding to the excitement is the coincidental, or perhaps deliberate, timing of Disneyland Resort’s upcoming 70th anniversary celebration in 2025—you can almost hear the synergy between these two monumental events! Meanwhile, over at Walt Disney World in Florida, preparations for an entirely new nighttime parade, “Disney Starlight,” are underway. Set to debut in the summer of 2025, this vibrant parade promises to feature characters such as Peter Pan, Elsa, and the ever-enthusiastic Madrigal family from “Encanto.”

As Disneyland sparks up the magic once again, we can’t wait to see how “Paint the Night” will light up the hearts of visitors. Are you as thrilled as we are about this comeback? Share your favorite “Paint the Night” memories and your excitement for its return in the comments below!
