As the magical realm of Arendelle comes to life in Hong Kong Disneyland, Disney+ unveils a captivating behind-the-scenes look with their new documentary, *For the First Time in Forever: The Making of World of Frozen*. This 16-minute special offers a fascinating journey through the seven-year process of bringing the enchanting land to fruition.
Having attended the opening of World of Frozen last November, I found the documentary to be a delightful revisit to those unforgettable moments. The short film is brimming with visually stunning footage, showcasing everything from the initial stages of construction to the completion of this frosty wonderland. The documentary dives deep into various facets of the project, including concept art and intricate models, giving fans a rare glimpse into the creative process.
A standout feature of the new land is its immersive design. The documentary touches on the innovative concept of “Summer Snow Day” that weaves through the attractions, shops, and eateries. What’s truly remarkable is how the Imagineers harnessed the natural beauty of the surrounding Lantau Mountains to further enhance the land’s authenticity.
The section dedicated to World of Frozen’s area music is a treat for any Frozen fan. Composed by the award-winning Andrew Cottee and recorded by a full orchestra in London, the music integrates the beloved melodies of Frozen with innovative touches—like the use of the traditional Finnish kantele in a new rendition of “All Is Found” from *Frozen 2*. The segment on the “citizens of Arendelle” or cast members also stood out, detailing their extensive training and the careful design of their unique costumes.
Though the documentary at times feels a bit staged, much like the *Behind the Attraction* series, it still serves as an engaging and informative peek behind the Disney curtain. The scripted interviews with Imagineers are a bit formal, but this promotional piece succeeds in igniting the desire to experience World of Frozen firsthand. For those who haven’t yet visited, this special will surely motivate you to pack your bags and head to Hong Kong Disneyland.
*For the First Time in Forever: The Making of World of Frozen* is now streaming on Disney+. If you’ve watched it or have any thoughts on this new land, we’d love to hear your comments! Don’t forget to share the story and interact with fellow Disney enthusiasts.
