A tragic incident at Disneyland has left the theme park in mourning. On June 5th, Bonnye Lear, a 60-year-old administrator for the exclusive Club 33, suffered a fatal accident in the backstage area of Critter Country. According to officials from the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA), Lear fell from a moving golf cart and sustained severe head injuries, which unfortunately led to her passing on Friday.
Anaheim police are concurrently conducting a traffic collision investigation. A longtime presence at Disneyland, Lear was widely respected for her role at Club 33, the members-only dining venue perched above the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.
In line with protocol, Disneyland reported the serious incident to Cal/OSHA within the required time frame and has preserved all physical evidence related to the accident. So far, no changes to safety guidelines for golf carts have been implemented by the park.
Ken Potrock, President of Disneyland Resort, released a poignant statement expressing grief over the loss: “We are heartbroken by the loss of Bonnye and offer our sincere condolences to everyone who cared for her. At this time, we are focused on supporting her family and our cast members through this tragic event and ensuring they have the resources they need.”
