Disney fans, hold on to your Mickey ears because Tokyo Disney Resort just opened its magical doors to the brand-new Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea! Following a significant $2 billion investment, this enchanting expansion spans 1.5 million square feet and unveils immersive areas themed after beloved franchises like “Frozen,” “Tangled,” and “Peter Pan.” As part of Disney’s ambitious 10-year, $60 billion global theme park investment plan, this addition marks the largest expansion in Japan since the Tokyo resort’s inception over 40 years ago.
The grand opening saw Disney CEO Bob Iger and Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro celebrating alongside executives from the Oriental Land Company, Disney’s Japanese partner, and theme park operator. Iger enthused, “I am so proud of the richly immersive experiences we’ve created together, and I look forward to the bright future ahead of us here at Tokyo Disney Resort.”
Visitors to Fantasy Springs can look forward to themed attractions, dining, and retail options. The much-anticipated Frozen Kingdom, for instance, boasts a snow-capped Arendelle mountain where guests can enjoy “Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey” boat ride, dine at the “Royal Banquet of Arendelle,” and grab a bite at “Oaken’s OK Foods.”
Joining the fun is the newly opened Fantasy Springs Hotel, offering deluxe and luxury accommodations with private park access. The Grand Chateau rooms, starting at around $2,200 per night, are Tokyo Resort’s most lavish, underscoring the rise in demand for luxury experiences at the park.
With this timely expansion, the Tokyo Disney Resort anticipates boosting its visitor numbers, riding the wave of increased international interest in Japanese culture and favorable economic conditions. As a teaser for what’s to come, a Wreck-It Ralph attraction is already on the horizon, set to open by 2026.
