Excitement is bubbling at EPCOT as the reimagining of Test Track continues to unfold. Crews have begun removing the canopy fabric from the awning structure, signaling a significant milestone in the ride’s major transformation. With the attraction closed for its reinvention, guests eagerly anticipate what the future holds for this beloved ride.
Under a partly cloudy sky, a large metal framework stands uncovered as various construction equipment and scattered materials pepper the area. The most noticeable change? The striking blue “T”-shaped pieces and canopy that once provided shade are now gone. Recall that in 2022, Hurricane Ian damaged the initial canopy, which was only replaced in March 2023 before this latest round of construction began.
Concept art for the revitalized attraction reveals plans to go beyond simply replacing the canopy. The design indicates that the awning supports will be removed altogether, making way for a more permanent overhang that will stretch out near the track circling the building. The updated structure promises to bring a streamlined exterior with futuristic aesthetics, staying true to the ride’s innovative spirit.
Longtime sponsor Chevrolet, which took over from General Motors in 2012, will continue its partnership with Test Track. The new version, fondly referred to as Test Track 3.0, will draw inspiration from the original World of Motion attraction that Test Track replaced when it opened in 1998. While full details have yet to be disclosed, the reimagined ride will seamlessly integrate state-of-the-art technology with innovative design.
As the transformation progresses, we can only dream of the thrilling updates that will await us. What are your thoughts on the Test Track revamp? Share and engage in the comments below – we’d love to hear your excitement for this new chapter!
