Exciting Changes Are Coming to Downtown Disney: La Brea Bakery’s Transformation
Big news, Disney fans! The iconic La Brea Bakery in Downtown Disney is set to be transformed. Disney has officially filed permits with the Anaheim Planning and Building Department to demolish the bakery, two Disneyland ticket booths, and remove the foundation. This significant site will soon be the home of the beloved Porto’s Bakery.
Porto’s Bakery and Cafe, renowned for its mouth-watering pastries and Cuban treats, was announced in 2022 and will become the bakery’s seventh location. But that’s not all! As we say goodbye to La Brea Bakery, we also welcome the promising return of Earl of Sandwich in a grand new two-story location at Downtown Disney. The first floor will host a “light and airy Earl of Sandwich” restaurant, while the second floor will offer a new table-service concept, The Carnaby Tavern, inspired by the British Invasion pop and rock bands of the ‘60s. Guests can look forward to enjoying their meals with the added charm of an indoor/outdoor full-service bar.
The wave of new eateries doesn’t stop there. Three more restaurants are set to enhance the Downtown Disney experience: Bopo Go! Cafe, Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon, and Pearl’s Roadside BBQ. At Bopo Go!, created by the minds behind Bopomofo Café, visitors can indulge in authentic boba/bubble tea. Arthur & Sons will cater to steak lovers, offering premium cuts of beef and an impressive array of bourbon and cocktails. For those craving smoky flavors, Pearl’s Roadside BBQ promises delicious pulled pork, beef brisket, and smoked heritage turkey.
With Disneyland Resort’s 70th anniversary celebrations kicking off on May 16th, 2025, these exciting changes signal a new era for Downtown Disney—ensuring it remains a vibrant and must-visit destination for all guests. We’re eager to see how Porto’s Bakery will add its charm to this ever-evolving landscape.
