Disney recently unveiled its plans for the largest expansion of its U.S. parks yet, echoing Walt Disney’s famous 1955 assertion that “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” At the “D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event” in California, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro revealed a treasure trove of new adventures and magical lands destined for both coasts.
At Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Magic Kingdom is set to welcome Disney’s iconic villains and the popular Cars franchise. Imagineers are crafting a land dedicated to the villains we all love to hate, complete with new attractions, dining, and shopping experiences. Kids and adults alike will also be thrilled with the addition of two new Cars-themed attractions. One promises high-speed, off-road thrills, while the other caters to the park’s younger visitors.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is poised to debut “Tropical Americas” in 2027. This new land features innovations like an Indiana Jones attraction set in a Maya temple and an immersive experience based on Encanto inside the magical Casita. Meanwhile, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will introduce a Monsters, Inc. land featuring the first suspended coaster in a Disney park, inviting fans to tour the Laugh Factory in an entirely new way.
Farther west, Disneyland Resort in California is expanding too. The Avengers Campus will double in size, showcasing new attractions to delight Marvel fans. Meanwhile, an area inspired by Avatar: The Way of Water will bring even more magic and aquatic wonder to the resort, diving deep into the innovations of Pandora.
