Disneyland is a haven for magical experiences, and one of the highlights for many visitors is savoring delicious meals at their favorite eateries. However, during my recent visit, I faced quite the culinary conundrum when my go-to spot, Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, was closed for refurbishment.
As a creature of habit, my Disneyland trips always began with a grilled cheese paired perfectly with a Chimney Sweep Cold Brew from Jolly Holiday. But with it closed, I had to venture out and explore new dining options. To my surprise, I discovered some fantastic alternatives that might even rival my old favorites.
First on my breakfast list was the Breakfast Chimichanga at Ship to Shore in Frontierland. This deep-fried delight packed with eggs, bacon, sausage, and hashbrowns was a savory start to the day. My second breakfast adventure took me to Pixar Place Hotel, where a Meat Lovers Breakfast Wrap accompanied by a simple cup of coffee hit the spot.
Finding a replacement for the Chimney Sweep Cold Brew seemed daunting, but I found not one but two incredible alternatives. The Black Caf Cold Brew at Docking Bay 7 in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge offered a slightly sweeter and creamier experience than its Disney World counterpart. And for a refreshing twist, the Meeska Mooska Mickey Mango at Café Daisy in Mickey’s Toontown was a light, invigorating blend of mango and cucumber.
My snack quest led me to revisiting beloved favorites and new discoveries. The Sweet Beef at Bengal Barbecue, a Disneyland staple for me, didn’t disappoint with its mouthwatering Zulu sauce. Sweet yet smoky, it’s a snack I couldn’t resist having multiple times. In Adventureland, I indulged in the traditional Chile Mango Whip at Tropical Hideaway—an absolute must.
For something new, Docking Bay 7 surpassed expectations with the Shaaken Beef with Tatooine Bounty and the Endorian Fried Chicken Tip-Yip. Each dish brought a unique blend of flavors that left me pleasantly surprised.
Dinner was a culinary delight at Din Tai Fung in Downtown Disney, with the Black Pepper Beef Tenderloin stealing the show. For dessert, the Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao, enhanced with a side of sea salt cream, was heavenly.
While Jolly Holiday’s closure initially threw me off, it ultimately led to a treasure trove of new and delicious experiences. And great news for Disneyland visitors: Jolly Holiday has reopened just in time for the park’s 70th anniversary celebrations!
