Exciting transformations are sweeping through Disneyland Resort, and fans are in for some surprises! At the recent D23 event, Disney dished out updates on upcoming expansions, most notably the highly anticipated introduction of Avatar land. Similar to Florida’s Pandora—The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disneyland’s new Avatar-themed area promises to be a mesmerizing world for guests to explore. While details remain scant, the buzz is palpable!
However, the Avatar expansion isn’t the only major shift coming to the resort. Disneyland Park is bidding an early farewell to Critter Country, with changes already underway months ahead of schedule. Critter Country, beloved for its rustic charm, will be transformed into Bayou Country, a thematic overhaul aligned with the magic of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Originally announced earlier this year, the closure and rebranding were anticipated to be a gradual transition. However, as reported by WDWNT, guests aboard the Mark Twain Riverboat are already greeted by newly recorded audio welcoming them to Bayou Country. This comes three months before the projected timeline!
The extensive remodel centers on the introduction of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which opened to great acclaim at Magic Kingdom this summer. The Disneyland version is set to open its gates on November 15, 2024. Bayou Country will host several new attractions, including a The Princess and the Frog-inspired shop and a quick-service eatery, Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, sure to tantalize your taste buds.
