When the Country Bear Musical Jamboree reopens this summer at Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World, the show-stopping bears will debut brand-new costumes. Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah are ready to take center stage with their dazzlingly fresh and vibrant attire!
In an exclusive behind-the-seams video, we met Sara Landesberg, a costumer for Disney Live Entertainment. She’s instrumental in bringing these fabulous new looks to life. Sara coordinates various teams to create each garment, ensuring that every rhinestone is meticulously hand-placed on the bears’ high-frills costumes. “I help source all the fabrics and components and rhinestones,” Sara explained, highlighting the careful craftsmanship that goes into dressing these beloved Audio-Animatronics characters.
But dressing the bears isn’t as simple as you’d think. Unlike humans, Audio-Animatronics figures require special considerations. “They have lots of repetitive movement, so we often add gussets or additional pockets of fabric to give them more room to move without destroying the costume,” Sara noted. Every detail is carefully calibrated to ensure both functionality and flair for the dynamic performances.
So, what can fans expect from the new show? The reimagined Country Bear Musical Jamboree will pay homage to the Opry-style shows of Nashville, with new, reinterpreted Disney tunes spanning various genres of country music like bluegrass, pop-country, Americana, and rockabilly. And yes, there will be plenty of easter eggs and familiar tunes that long-time fans will recall fondly.
It’s an overhaul that promises to captivate both new spectators and seasoned fans of the Country Bears alike. The beloved bear trio’s stunning new look is just the beginning of what will surely be a delightful and foot-stomping adventure.
