Get ready to hop aboard your favorite interstellar adventure! The reopening date for Space Mountain at Disneyland Park has finally been unveiled, bringing joy to all thrill-seekers and space enthusiasts alike. According to the Disneyland Resort calendar, the iconic ride is expected to reopen on September 6, wrapping up its month-long refurbishment that began on August 5. The attraction had undergone some queue enhancements, which were noticeably under construction as early as June.
The journey of Space Mountain has been nothing short of remarkable. The original ride debuted at Disneyland in 1977, following the success of its 1975 predecessor at Magic Kingdom. Over in France, Disneyland Paris launched its own Jules Verne-inspired De la Terre à la Lune Space Mountain in 1995, which eventually transformed into the “Star Wars”-themed Hyperspace Mountain. Hong Kong Disneyland joined the adventure in 2005 with its own version, which also adopted the Hyperspace Mountain theme.
Meanwhile, Tokyo Disneyland’s Space Mountain, which opened in 1983, bid an emotional farewell earlier this year. It closed permanently to make way for a brand-new incarnation of the attraction, currently under construction and set to thrill guests by 2027. The evolution of Space Mountain across global Disney parks underscores its lasting appeal and constant innovation.
Excitingly, there’s also a Space Mountain movie in development! While details are still sparse, this cinematic endeavor promises to bring even more magic and mystery to the beloved ride.
