Can you believe the fan-favorite attraction, Pirates of the Caribbean, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year?
The attraction first opened at Disneyland park in 1967, and most recently at Shanghai Disneyland in the form of Pirates of the Caribbean Battle for the Sunken Treasure.
To mark the milestone, the Disney Archives opened a special “A Pirates Life for Me: Disney’s Rascals, Scoundrels, Really Bad Eggs” exhibit at this year’s D23 Expo. This walk-through exhibit featured never-before-released imagery created during the making of the attraction, plus sheet music, costumes, pirate props and much more.
Check out the video above to hear what Becky Cline from the Disney Archives has to say about the importance of this attraction to Disney fans.
