Disney has once again shuffled its release calendar, bringing exciting news and a few surprises for Marvel fans. As we look ahead to the coming years, here’s the latest lineup from Marvel Studios following the recent updates.
In a notable shift, “Avengers: Doomsday” will take over the May 1, 2026 spot initially earmarked for “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.” This change follows the cautious approach Marvel Studios seems to be embracing, avoiding firm promises on upcoming releases. As for the highly anticipated “Avengers: Secret Wars,” its status remains unconfirmed, though a May 2027 release was hinted at during last weekend’s announcement.
Fans will recall that back in 2022, Marvel teased the release of two Avengers films. Meanwhile, the upcoming “Fantastic Four” and “Thunderbolts” movies have undergone title changes. They are now known as “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and “Thunderbolts*” respectively. Additionally, Marvel has dropped a previously slated movie from its July 24, 2026 schedule, aligning with Disney CEO Bob Iger’s remarks about limiting the studio’s yearly output to two or three features.
Interestingly, the 2026 lineup still includes two other MCU films slated for February 13 and November 6. The biggest surprise? “Blade” still holds its November 7, 2025, release date despite lacking a writer or director and not being mentioned at the recent Comic-Con by Kevin Feige.
Lastly, while there’s no news on when we’ll get “Spider-Man 4,” any updates would come from Sony Pictures rather than Marvel Studios. Here’s a look at the full Disney release schedule for the coming years:
– “A REAL PAIN” moves to 11/1/24 (Limited)
– “THUNDERBOLTS*” on 5/2/25
– UNTITLED DISNEY previously slated for 3/7/25 is removed
– “THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS” on 7/25/25
– Various UNTITLED DISNEY films shifting between 8/8/25 to 9/11/26
– “AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY” on 5/1/26
– Various UNTITLED DISNEY and MARVEL films from 2/12/27 to 11/24/27
