Exciting news for Disney fans! The much-anticipated sequel to “Freaky Friday” is getting even more intriguing with the addition of Jordan E. Cooper to the cast. Cooper will be playing a character named Jett, joining a star-studded lineup that includes returning icons Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan, Mark Harmon, and Chad Michael Murray. This talented ensemble is set to bring back the magic of the 2003 hit that grossed $160.8 million globally.
The sequel will be helmed by Nisha Ganatra, known for her work on “The High Note” and “Late Night”. Producers Kristin Burr and Andrew Gunn are on board to ensure the project captures the essence of the original while adding fresh elements. The original “Freaky Friday”, directed by Mark Waters, followed an overworked mother and her daughter who magically swap bodies, forcing them to experience life from each other’s perspective. This remake was itself a reboot of the beloved 1976 Disney film starring Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris.
Jordan E. Cooper is a multi-faceted talent, having already made a significant mark in the entertainment industry. A Tony Award-nominated actor, playwright, producer, and director, Cooper made history as the youngest Black American playwright on Broadway with his critically acclaimed play “Ain’t No Mo’,” which earned six Tony Award nominations. On television, Cooper has starred in BET’s “The Ms. Pat Show,” which he also created, executive produced, and directed. His credits include a memorable role in FX’s “Pose” as MC Tyrone and his own production company, Cookout Entertainment. Forbes featured him on the cover of its “30 Under 30” Hollywood & Entertainment class of 2024.
With this dynamic addition to the cast, “Freaky Friday 2” is shaping up to be a must-watch for Disney aficionados and new audiences alike. Will the sequel capture the same charm and madness of the original? Share your thoughts in the comments below and let us know!
