Disney+ has achieved another milestone with its latest hit, Descendants: The Rise of Red. According to a report from Deadline, this Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) has set a major record, garnering over 6.7 million views within its first three days on the platform. This makes it the most-watched premiere for a DCOM in Disney+ history! For context, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie managed to pull in 4.6 million views over the same period, showing just how popular this new addition to the Descendants franchise is.
However, it’s worth noting that comparing these numbers can be tricky. While Descendants: The Rise of Red boasts impressive viewership, other Disney+ titles have also shown enormous numbers. The Acolyte, for instance, attracted 4.8 million views on its first day, although it’s not a DCOM. Similarly, Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Loki Season 2 registered 13.3 million views in six days and 10.9 million views in three days, respectively.
Despite these varied figures, one thing remains clear: Disney+ is a treasure trove of must-watch content. In addition to Descendants: The Rise of Red, the streaming service offers an abundance of shows and movies from the Marvel and Star Wars universes, making it a go-to for fans of superhero and sci-fi genres. Currently, viewers can enjoy The Acolyte, a Star Wars series set 100 years before The Phantom Menace. Coming soon is Agatha All Along, a WandaVision spin-off starring Kathryn Hahn, set to kick off on September 18.
For those who prefer to view their favorite movies on the Disney Channel, Descendants: The Rise of Red will make its linear debut on August 9.
