Ahoy, Disney fans! The saga of “Pirates of the Caribbean” seems to have a fresh wind in its sails. Jerry Bruckheimer, the stalwart producer of the beloved franchise, recently dropped some tantalizing tidbits about the future of our favorite swashbuckling series. Not content with just one new high-seas adventure, Bruckheimer revealed plans for not one, but two upcoming films! And yes, there’s still talk about the ever-talented Margot Robbie potentially leading one of these new tales.
Reflecting on Margot Robbie’s earlier comments from 2022, Bruckheimer shared his insight on her proposed Pirates project. Robbie had previously mentioned that her idea — a more female-led yet distinctly unique storyline — seemed to have hit a snag with Disney. “We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago,” Robbie mused back then. “But I guess they don’t want to do it.”
Despite this apparent pause, hope remains alive. Robbie, who was announced in 2020 to headline a new Pirates movie penned by “Birds of Prey” screenwriter Christina Hodson, still has Bruckheimer’s support. Coupled with a separate project envisioned by “Chernobyl” creator Craig Mazin, these uncharted waters of creativity are far from abandoned. Bruckheimer shared his optimism with Entertainment Weekly, stating, “We hope to get ’em both made, and I think Disney agrees they really want to make the Margot one, too.”
Excitingly, Bruckheimer also confirmed that writer Jeff Nathanson — responsible for scripting 2017’s “Dead Men Tell No Tales” — is on board for the franchise’s full reboot. Nathanson’s got the bones of a captivating script ready, with Bruckheimer hinting that the third act is particularly spectacular. “He’s got an amazing third act. We just gotta clean up the first and second and then we’ll get there,” Bruckheimer divulged.
As for Margot Robbie, she continues to be one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood. From “I, Tonya” to “The Wolf of Wall Street” and her dazzling turn in “Barbie,” her versatility and dedication have endeared her to audiences worldwide. It’s no wonder that fans are eagerly waiting to see if she’ll bring some of that magic to the next Pirates adventure.
We can’t wait to see how these projects unfold and if the tides will indeed bring Margot Robbie aboard the Black Pearl. What do you think, Disney enthusiasts?
