Ahoy, Disney fans! Prepare to set sail on a new adventure as Disney Cruise Line proudly unveils its latest tropical paradise: Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point! Nestled on the picturesque island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas, this enchanting destination officially opened its doors in June 2024, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the vibrant spirit and culture of the Bahamas. Featuring signature Disney entertainment, unique port adventures, nature trails, a water play area, and stunning beaches, Lookout Cay promises magical moments for families and adults alike.

This venture is part of Disney’s grand vision to spend $60 billion on its Disney Experiences segment over the next decade. Among these exciting plans is the highly anticipated Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, opening June 28, 2024. The creation of Lookout Cay, a significant investment ranging from $250 million to $400 million, has brought in over 300 construction jobs and promises at least 150 year-round operational positions, showcasing Disney’s impactful economic commitment to the Bahamas. In fact, Disneyland experts predict that the new destination will contribute over $70 million annually to the Bahamas’ GDP.

When it comes to environmental stewardship, Disney sets a high bar. The design of Lookout Cay carefully preserves 84 percent of its 900 acres, focusing on low-density uses such as beach chairs and umbrellas. Notably, the pier was strategically built to avoid coral reefs, ensuring no need for dredging a ship channel. Disney’s zero-waste-to-landfill commitment is evident, with no plastic products found on the island, replaced instead by eco-friendly options like edible straws.

Guests will be enchanted by the celebration of Bahamian culture woven throughout Lookout Cay, thanks to the collaboration with local artists and cultural experts. Highlights include the Goombay Cultural Center, where the vibrant Rush! A Junkanoo Celebration unfolds with local dancers and musicians. Mickey Mouse and friends join the festivities, dressed in dazzling costumes designed by Bahamian fashion designer Theodore Elyett, adding an extra sprinkle of Disney magic.

Disney Lookout Cay welcomed its first preview cruise on the Disney Magic on June 6 and its inaugural voyage on the Disney Fantasy on June 8. With this stunning destination now delighting guests, Disney Cruise Line looks ahead to even more adventures, including the launch of the Disney Treasure in December 2024 and the arrival of the Disney Adventure and Disney Destiny in 2025.
