We just returned from an exhilarating voyage to Disney’s latest gem, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point on Eleuthera Island. The fresh, new addition to Disney Cruise Line’s portfolio has already made a splash, complementing their existing Castaway Cay with a distinct Bahamian flair. If you’re planning a Disney voyage, this is a must-visit, promising to captivate clients with its unique offerings.
Though both Lookout Cay and Castaway Cay are nestled in the picturesque Bahamas, they offer vastly different experiences. While Castaway Cay thrives on the whimsical tale of fictional castaways, Lookout Cay immerses guests in the vibrant, authentic culture of the Bahamas. One of the standouts at Lookout Cay is its twice-daily parade festival, RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy lead a local Junkanoo group as they dance in vivid, cultural attire, transforming the event into an unforgettable party. There’s no better way to feel the island’s spirit!
Centering the cultural immersion at Lookout Cay is the Goombay Cultural Center, a hub bustling with activities that celebrate the Bahamian way of life. We had the pleasure of attending the Sights & Sounds of Junkanoo Workshop, guided by local teacher Miss Melinda. This interactive session, filled with history and crafts, will have your clients leaving with a newfound appreciation for the island’s rich traditions.
For families, there’s plenty to do without spending a dime. Free activities abound, from joyous beach bashes at the Play-Play Pavilion to splash-filled fun at Rush Out, Gush Out Water Play. And when parents need a break, they can drop the kids off at Sebastian’s Cove kids’ club while they explore the adult-only sections of the island.
Venturing out? Lookout Cay offers premium excursions that showcase Eleuthera’s beauty and culture. From private tours to exciting adventures like buggy rides and scuba tours, there’s something for every type of traveler. Mabrika Cove Cabanas offer a slice of paradise for those seeking luxury.
The dining at Lookout Cay impresses, too, with nine distinct spots serving everything from classic BBQ to Bahamian specialties. Among these are savory grilled snapper and the island’s signature cocktail, Eleuthera Euphoria—a delicious blend of premium aged rum and Dole Whip that screams vacation.
As testament to Disney’s commitment to conservation, the destination is dotted with sustainability features, like elevated walkways to protect the dunes. Only one ship docks per day, ensuring a serene, non-crowded experience. Whether it’s the pristine, powdery beaches or the genuine cultural experiences, Lighthouse Point exudes Disney magic with an authentic twist. We’re already counting down the days to our next visit!
