When it comes to celebrating Earth Day, one day just isn’t enough! Our Disney Cruise Line crew members have been celebrating in local port communities all month long!
As part of the annual Keep Brevard Beautiful Trash Bash event in Brevard County, Disney Fantasy crew members partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida Cocoa Branch and worked together to refresh the area surrounding the club by picking up debris. Once the bags were stuffed and closed, participants tried out their gardening thumbs by weeding the Club’s flower beds in preparation for summer planting activities.
Crew members on the Disney Wonder also found themselves digging up some dirt in Cozumel, Mexico while they cleared gardening space at the Cozumel Humane Society and then tended to their new furry friends. And later this month, Disney Magic crew members will join the fun at the Cayman Islands Humane Society to lend a hand weeding a puppy play area for the resident pups.
Disney Dream crew members helped the Merritt Island community in Brevard County connect with the outdoors during a visit to the Pine Island Conservation Area where they spent time updating a walkway. This isn’t the first time Disney Cruise Line visited the conservation area. Last year, crew members from the Disney Fantasy lent a hand to construct an ADA accessible boardwalk leading to a newly constructed shaded pavilion.
Crew members from the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Dream also read books with environmental themes to elementary children at local schools in St. Thomas and Nassau.
Aboard the ships and on Castaway Cay, both crew members and guests laced up their walking shoes for the 9th annual Disney Cruise Line “Walk for Wildlife.” This fun and leisurely walk directly supported the Disney Conservation Fund.
We’re thankful for our dedicated cast and crew members who’ve made celebrating Earth Month and protecting and conserving the environment a priority in their busy schedules.
