Walt Disney World has waved its magic wand again, and this time it’s Peter Pan’s Flight soaring to new heights. A brand-new scene starring Tiger Lily and the Never Land Tribe has taken center stage at the Magic Kingdom. This creative reimagining debuted on August 16, 2024, and fans are already buzzing with excitement over the refreshing update to this classic attraction.

In this revitalized scene, Tiger Lily and her great-grandmother share a mesmerizing turntable dance amidst a lively Never Land harvest celebration. Unlike the previous depiction—where the characters appeared stern and static around a campfire—this new scene bursts with life and cultural significance. The modern imagery now features symbols such as a sea turtle, a paw print, and the iconic “second star to the right,” replacing the old designs of a buffalo, a bird, and the sun.

Disney’s intent behind this transformation is clear: it’s a commitment to evolving storytelling that respects and honors the cultural richness of the characters depicted. Historically, Tiger Lily and her tribe have been portrayed in a stereotypical manner in both the 1953 animated “Peter Pan” film and the original ride scenes. The new version aims to rectify these portrayals by creating a more authentic and respectful depiction. This endeavor is part of Disney’s broader initiative to reimagine classic attractions to better reflect the world’s diverse stories.

For those eager to experience this update firsthand, Peter Pan’s Flight at the Magic Kingdom will be active on Lightning Lane Multi-Pass starting August 19, 2024. Visitors at Disneyland in California and Disneyland Paris can also look forward to similar updates soon.

Shockwaves of this transformation have even reached Tokyo Disney Resort. The brand new Peter Pan’s Never Land section within Tokyo DisneySea’s Fantasy Springs expansion brings another layer of adventure, with Tiger Lily and Michael Darling dancing together in the groundbreaking Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure.
