Magic and Culture Unite: Disney Hosts Exclusive Event for Black Influencers
BURBANK, Calif. — Enchanted moments and meaningful connections were at the heart of Disney’s recent celebration of culture and creativity with “The Power of Joy: Creator Summit.” Over the span of two magical days, the company welcomed 77 distinguished Black influencers to its renowned Disney Studio Lot in Burbank and Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.
The exclusive event was brimming with sneak peeks, revealing some of Disney’s highly anticipated content and experiences. Attendees also had the unique opportunity to engage in insightful discussions with Disney leaders, emphasizing the influential role Black creators play in shaping today’s pop culture.
Anastasia Ali, Vice President of Enterprise Commercial Inclusion Strategy at the Walt Disney Company, highlighted the motivation behind the summit: “We decided to create a custom, curated event for Black creators specifically because we know that Black creators are driving culture. They are the purveyors of pop culture, influencing consumers from around the globe.”
The summit was a whirlwind of excitement, featuring a tour of Walt Disney Animation Studios and various special surprises. Brandi Marie King, a dynamic content creator focused on entertainment, travel, and lifestyle, shared her delight: “It’s just fun all around. All the Disney magic, it never stops. At 10am, I found out I’m going to D23 (The Ultimate Disney Fan Event), and we still have the rest of the day. And then two of my friends won cruises.”
Jill Estorino, President and Managing Director of Disney Parks International and Commercial Inclusion Strategy Executive Sponsor, underscored the lasting impact of the summit: “This is the first time we’ve done this type of an event, but it’s not really an event. It’s the beginning of a relationship with some of the most important Black creators and influencers from around the country.”
We invite you to share your thoughts about this inspiring summit in the comments, and don’t forget to share the story with your friends. What Disney magic would you most like to experience? How do you think culturally inclusive events shape the future of entertainment? Join the conversation!
