Harrison Ford captivated the audience at Disney’s D23 Expo, held at the Honda Centre in Anaheim, with a heartfelt tribute to The Walt Disney Company. Appearing on stage during the Disney Legends ceremony, Ford received a thunderous standing ovation from the 12,000-strong crowd—a testament to his enduring legacy and his deep connection with Disney.

Disney CEO Bob Iger, who has long been a champion of Ford’s illustrious career, hailed him as “the definition of a leading man.” Iger went on to describe Ford as a man of “deep integrity and big heartedness,” adding that bestowing Legends status upon Ford was a “true honor” and emphasizing their close friendship.

The actor, best known for his iconic roles as Han Solo in “Star Wars” and as Indiana Jones, was visibly moved. “I’m really delighted and a little bit embarrassed, but so very grateful,” Ford confessed. “I love the life you have given me. I love the people I’ve had the opportunity to work with. We work in collaboration, no matter who we are or what we are doing, we are working on an idea. I have the privilege of being a storyteller, an assisted storyteller.”

Discussing the bond between him and Disney, Ford said, “We have a bond between us” predicated on the “great products” Disney creates. He also praised Iger’s leadership, calling Disney “a giant ship” that needed an exceptional captain.

In an emotional moment, Ford acknowledged the significant role Bob Iger has played both creatively and professionally in his life. “The great generosity of that introduction deserves my acknowledging how important Bob has been in the work that I’ve done. But he has also become a dear and trusted friend,” he added.

Ford also expressed his honor to be alongside other luminaries recognised at the event, such as Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis and Grammy winner Miley Cyrus. This momentous occasion comes on the heels of Ford’s exciting appearance as President Ross in a sneak peek of the upcoming “Captain America: Brave New World,” where he transforms into the Red Hulk.
