Guests arriving at the west end of the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, are in for a treat as they are greeted by an all-new entrance featuring a stunning mid-century modern design. The District, which first opened in 2001, has continuously evolved with new eateries, shops, and experiences. Now celebrating nearly 25 years, it’s undergoing another major upgrade, further cementing its status as a premier destination for both locals and tourists.
Jason Smith, the executive director of Downtown Disney District, shares the excitement, saying, “We are adding world-class dining, beloved brands, and local businesses, plus investing in new areas where guests can gather. This makes the District a destination in its own right.” The upgrades reflect Disney’s commitment to providing exceptional experiences and supporting the surrounding communities.
The impact of these new establishments extends beyond fun and convenience; they also play a significant role in community engagement. The CHOC Walk in the Park, a benefit walk raising funds for the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, saw Din Tai Fung, a Downtown Disney District business, donate $50,000 to the cause this year. Events like these underscore the positive influence Disney has on Orange County.
Recent additions to the District have included new dining spots like Salt & Straw, Ballast Point Brewing, and Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes. This year, Mexican cuisine enthusiasts have been treated to Paseo, Centrico, and Tiendita, establishments brought to life by chef Carlos Gaytán and the Patina Restaurant Group. Din Tai Fung’s new outpost has also delighted visitors with its celebrated soup dumplings.
Looking ahead, more exciting developments are in the works. Parkside Market will introduce a food-hall-style eatery featuring diverse dining concepts from fast-casual Korean-inspired dishes at Seoul Sister to Caribbean bites at Sip & Sonder. Guests can also look forward to a new two-story Earl of Sandwich and a much-anticipated Porto’s Bakery and Cafe.
As Downtown Disney District continues to expand and innovate, guests are assured even more delightful dining, shopping, and entertainment experiences. Share your thoughts in the comments below and let us know which new addition you’re most excited about!
