Quack-tastic News! Donald Duck Tests His Spice Limits on ‘Hot Ones’
As part of an epic celebration of 90 years of Donald Duck, Disney has teamed up with one of the internet’s most sizzling celebrity interview series, ‘Hot Ones,’ for a custom episode featuring none other than the beloved duck himself. Yes, folks, Donald Duck took on the heat, fueled by a dare from Daisy Duck and backed by the ever-encouraging Mickey Mouse.
In this special episode, Donald Duck digs into a specially curated array of Disney hot sauces slathered over cauliflower wings, all while grumpy yet charming host Sean Evans quizzes him about his storied past. Donald fans are in for a treat as the iconic duck answers questions, often with plenty of that famous temper we’ve adored for decades.
Donald’s journey from his debut in 1934 to becoming a global superstar is nothing short of legendary. From seething at daily annoyances to capturing hearts worldwide, his remarkable character development earned him his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His fame is cemented further—literally!—with his webbed footprints outside the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
“Mickey Mouse and his pals, including Donald Duck, have always been iconic elements of popular culture. So, having Donald on ‘Hot Ones’ felt like a perfect match,” shared Tim Pennoyer, director of Brand Marketing at The Walt Disney Company.
The animation for Donald in this spicy challenge was masterfully done by the talented team at Walt Disney Animation Studios, under the visionary direction of Eric Goldberg. Goldberg, recognized for animating Genie in ‘Aladdin’ and directing ‘Pocahontas,’ had a blast bringing Donald to life. Tony Anselmo, the legendary voice behind Donald Duck, once again lent his quack-tastic talents, while Bret Iwan brought Mickey Mouse to vibrant vocal life.
“It was an honor to animate and direct Donald and Mickey for ‘Hot Ones’. Despite Donald’s notorious flair for crankiness, he was a joy for all our artists to work with,” said Goldberg. “Collaborating with Sean Evans and the ‘Hot Ones’ team, along with the talented voices of Tony Anselmo and Bret Iwan, was truly remarkable.”
As we continue the grand celebration of Donald Duck, keep your eyes peeled for more delightful surprises featuring Donald, Mickey, and friends. What did you think of Donald’s hot sauce adventure? Drop your thoughts in the comments and share the joy with fellow fans!
