Exciting news for Disney fans! Disneyland Resort is gearing up for some groundbreaking changes that will transform your park experience. As unveiled at the second night of D23—the ultimate Disney fan convention—Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, presented a slew of thrilling updates for Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure. Here’s a sneak peek into what’s brewing!
First on the list is the expansion of Avengers Campus, which promises to double its current size. Guests can look forward to two brand new attractions: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. Avengers Infinity Defense will whisk riders away to iconic locations within the Marvel Universe, from New York City and Wakanda to Thor’s Asgard, as the Avengers face off against King Thanos in a battle to save the universe. Meanwhile, Stark Flight Lab will offer a unique ride experience, challenging guests to test new Avengers equipment under the guidance of their favorite heroes.
Disney California Adventure is also set to welcome a new “Avatar”-inspired land. Diverging from Florida’s Pandora, this new land will focus on “Avatar: The Way of Water” and the upcoming third movie, “Avatar: Fire and Ash.” Expect a mesmerizing water attraction that brings the stunning world of Pandora to life in ways you’ve never seen before.
In a nod to Disney’s rich history, a new audio-animatronic show, Walt Disney: A Magical Life, will debut at the Main Street Opera House in 2025. This showcase will feature a lifelike animatronic of Walt Disney himself, accompanied by musical performances, and will alternate with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.”
Pixar fans, rejoice! Disney California Adventure will soon be home to the first attraction based on “Coco,” featuring state-of-the-art audio-animatronics similar to those found in beloved classics like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion. This immersive experience will bring to life the magic and music of “Coco” in a way that only Disney can.
Rounding out the announcements is a new ride experience for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. A “The Mandalorian and Grogu”-themed adventure will be added to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, promising an exciting journey powered by the Unreal Engine, a nod to cutting-edge gaming technology.
