Magic Kingdom is set to get a lot more mischievous! During the D23 celebration in Anaheim, Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, unveiled a thrilling array of new attractions across Disney properties. The headliner? A brand-new villains-themed land at Magic Kingdom! This sinister expansion promises to feature two mysterious new attractions, along with enticing dining and shopping options.
It’s not just the villains who are getting the spotlight. Disney’s Hollywood Studios will soon host a “Monsters, Inc.” themed land, complete with a groundbreaking suspended roller coaster that tours the iconic laugh factory. Construction on these world-class attractions kicks off next year, with an estimated completion around 2025.
Frontierland isn’t being left out of the excitement either. Two new “Cars” rides are scheduled to zoom into Magic Kingdom, featuring a race rally and a kiddie ride, adding a whole new dimension of fun to the park. Plus, next summer will see the debut of a vibrant new nighttime parade, “Disney Starlight,” led by the enchanting Blue Fairy and featuring beloved characters from “Encanto,” “Frozen,” and “Peter Pan,” among others.
The D23 Expo also dished out some tantalizing tidbits about Animal Kingdom’s future. A new area called Tropical Americas will rise from the ashes of Dinoland, USA, featuring attractions based on “Encanto” and “Indiana Jones.” The transformation begins this fall and should be complete by 2027.
Disney’s worldwide expansions are also making waves. Disneyland will introduce a show featuring an animatronic Walt Disney, while attractions based on “Coco” and “Avatar” will be added to Disney California Adventure. Meanwhile, Disney Cruise Line is set to grow its fleet to 13 ships by 2031, and Shanghai Disneyland will unveil a Spider-Man themed high-energy thrill coaster.
