The Walt Disney Company has reached a milestone in Emmy® Awards history! In a record-breaking achievement, Disney has secured 183 nominations for the 76th Primetime Emmy® Awards in 2024. Their diverse array of content and studios, such as ABC, Disney Branded Television, Disney Television Studios, FX, Hulu Originals, National Geographic, and The Walt Disney Studios, all contributed to this impressive feat.
Disney’s streaming platforms emerged as nomination powerhouses, amassing a whopping 181 nominations. Hulu took the lion’s share with 152, while Disney+ secured 32 nominations. Highlights include Lucasfilm Ltd.’s “Ahsoka” with five nominations, and Marvel breaking into various categories with “Loki,” “Echo,” and “X-Men ’97.” Disney Branded Television’s “Jim Henson Idea Man” garnered eight nods, with “The Beach Boys” adding a nomination too. Impressively, Disney Legend Elton John previously scored an EGOT following his win for “Elton John: Farewell from Dodger Stadium.”
FX surpassed its own record with 93 nominations. “The Bear” swept up 23 nominations, and “Shōgun” topped the charts with 26 nods. FX made history by securing nominations in multiple categories: Drama, Comedy, Limited, and Unstructured Reality Series. This includes three Outstanding Comedy Series nominations, setting a new precedent.
Hulu Originals continued to shine, with “Only Murders in the Building” securing 21 nominations, a show record. Selena Gomez also made history by becoming the most-nominated Latina producer and receiving her first acting Emmy nomination. 20th Television’s “Quiz Lady” followed up its previous success with an Outstanding Television Movie nod.
National Geographic received notable recognition with three nominations, including another Outstanding Narrator nomination for Paul Rudd and acknowledgment of Disney Legend Angela Bassett for “Queens.” Meanwhile, ABC celebrated its 38 nominations, including nine for “Abbott Elementary.” Quinta Brunson made history with her dual nominations in writing and acting, while “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Oscars” continued to dominate their categories.
