Disney has once again delighted its fans with a spectacular announcement at D23, the annual convention event in Anaheim, California. Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, revealed exciting plans to significantly expand the Disney Cruise Line fleet with four new ships by 2031. This substantial addition will nearly triple the current fleet size, offering Disney enthusiasts a total of 13 unique cruising experiences that promise unparalleled entertainment, dining, and guest services around the globe.

Set to be rolled out between 2027 and 2031, these new vessels will bolster Disney Cruise Line’s reputation for excellence. According to D’Amaro, “Disney Cruise Line is consistently the top-rated cruise line for families because it offers something for everyone. Expanding our fleet gives more people, in more parts of the world, the opportunity to experience a vacation at sea like only Disney can provide.”

The Disney Cruise Line, already renowned for high guest satisfaction and strong returns on investment, sees this fleet expansion as a strategic move to further solidify its position as a family cruising leader. Thomas Mazloum, president of the New Experiences Portfolio and Disney Signature Experiences, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the continued growth and excellence in Disney’s maritime endeavors.

The forthcoming Disney Adventure, set to launch in 2025, is poised to be Disney’s largest ship yet, with a capacity for 6,700 guests and 2,500 crew. This vessel will be significantly larger than the current largest ship, Disney Wish, boasting a gross tonnage of 208,000. Making waves from Singapore’s Marina Bay Cruise Centre, Disney Adventure will mark the company’s inaugural foray into the Asian market.

Fans can also look forward to other enchanting new experiences. Disney’s announcement highlighted the upcoming Disney Destiny, featuring a fresh Broadway-style stage show, ‘Disney Hercules,’ set to debut onboard. Also on the horizon is ‘Disney The Tale of Moana,’ a new stage show set to premiere on Disney Treasure later this year, featuring a magnificent fifteen-foot-tall puppet of Te Kā, Moana’s lava-wielding foe—the largest ever produced for a Disney Cruise Line show.

In addition to the fleet expansion, Disney revealed comprehensive plans to enhance its parks worldwide with six new themed lands and areas dedicated to beloved characters like The Avengers, The Lion King, and Frozen. With so many thrilling developments, Disney fans have much to look forward to in the coming years.
