Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, is home to Rainbow Reef, a stunning saltwater lagoon with more than one thousand brightly-colored fish. As Oahu’s only private snorkeling lagoon, Rainbow Reef also serves as an educational playground, helping guests connect with Hawaii’s natural resources and learn more about the different species of Hawaiian reef fish found in surrounding waters—some of which are only found in Hawaii. Needless to say, it’s an ideal experience for beginners or those simply seeking an underwater adventure!
The next episode of our “Meet Aulani’s ‘Ohana” series features Marj from our Animal Programs team. Dive into the video below to learn about all that goes into taking care of our 3,800-square-foot reef and the fish who live there.
Fun fact: Earlier this summer, some fish eggs were taken from Rainbow Reef to Hawaii Pacific University’s Oceanic Institute for observation and study. After hatching, the guppies were sent back to Aulani Resort, where they now swim freely in the reef!
