The fun continues all day at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa – and so does the memory-making! As you may recall, throughout my series, “Aloha All Day,” I’ve been sharing the Hawaiian greeting for various times of the day. Aloha ‘auinala is the greeting for the late afternoon, just before sunset, so today I’ll share some of the activities I enjoy as the day begins to wind down.
I like to savor the warmth from the day with one last dip in the pool. The tranquility of Wailana Pool, Aulani’s adult-exclusive pool, is ideal as the afternoon winds down and ‘auinala turns to ahiahi – the evening. Little ones – keiki – can also enjoy the ‘auinala – afternoon sun – in the Keiki Cove interactive splash zone. The large tentacles of the he‘e – octopus – stretch across the cove floor in a beautiful mosaic design and spout water.
‘Auinala at Aulani is also a perfect time to come together as an ‘ohana. Rainbow Reef, Aulani’s private snorkeling lagoon, can bring the family together with an up-close look at tropical fish. Friends and family can watch and take pictures from the observation deck and viewing window. Memory-making at its finest!
While you’re all together, you can continue the fun by learning the signature Aulani Hula. It’s a great way to immerse yourself in the culture and share what you learned on your Hawaiian vacation with friends and family at home. If you’re up for it, you and your ‘ohana can show off your moves at Aulani’s evening celebration, Starlit Hui.
Before you know it, it will be time to say, “aloha ahiahi” or good evening. Until then, I hope you and your ‘ohana enjoy a memorable and relaxing afternoon at Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa!
