As someone who loves the holidays, I always have a hard time determining the “right” time to put up my Christmas tree. How soon is too soon? And how long can I leave it up? This year, I just might mirror the timing of our “Holidays at Disney Springs,” seasonal celebration which starts November 11 and runs through January 8, 2017 – that seems just about perfect to me!
There will be some familiar favorites making their annual return, and a few new additions to spice up the season. Below, a few of the holiday activities I’m most looking forward to:
Disney Springs’ Christmas Tree Trail – This new offering will put the spotlight on fifteen distinctly decorated trees, each themed to a beloved Disney character or story. Add in a light dusting of snow and some holiday tunes and you’ve got yourself a winter wonderland in the Marketplace.
Nightly Tree Lighting Ceremony – Every evening at 6 p.m., experience a festive tree lighting ceremony where a family of the day will be chosen to illuminate the Marketplace signature tree. Nearby, look for life-sized toys, toy soldier stilt walkers, and Christmas-inspired treats.
Santa’s Chalet – He knows if you’ve been bad or good, so be good for goodness’ sake! Share your wish list with Santa and be sure to pose for a photo or two as Disney PhotoPass photographers will be on hand to capture the moment. (Tip: Visit early and use your family photo in this year’s holiday cards!) Like last year, you can pick up a pager upon arrival, allowing you to shop, dine or play while you wait for your turn in the queue line.
MAC Cosmetics’ Nutcracker Sweet Collection – To celebrate the launch of the new MAC Cosmetics holiday boxed sets, you’re invited to lose yourself in an eccentric ballet starring a handsome prince, the Sugar Plum Fairy, rosy-cheeked soldiers and other whimsical surprises. With multiple performances taking place daily from November 16 through November 19, 2016, there are plenty of chances to enjoy this spectacle. (Bonus: you’ll also be able to book a magical makeover appointment during this timeframe!)
Stitch’s Holiday Gift Hunt – Slated to start on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, this fun-for-the-whole-family scavenger hunt-style activity will send you through all four neighborhoods of Disney Springs. Once complete, visit participating locations for a limited-edition completer button.
With so much in store at Disney Springs, you might need to plan a few visits to take it all in. Of course, every corner will be decked out and evening entertainment will take on a festive flair alongside a special nighttime show that will be announced soon.
This is all in addition to the incredible holiday shopping now available at Disney Springs – ‘tis the season, right?
